11-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES BY SAVING HIS SISTER'S LIFE

No comments :
A brave 11-year-old boy died after he pushed his little sister out of the way of an out-of-control car as the two siblings were waiting for their school bus, his family said Wednesday.
Little La'Darious Wylie sacrificed his short life last week, shoving his 7-year-old sister, Sha'Vonta, to safety as a hit-and-run driver barreled into his tiny body at a South Carolina bus stop, the children's mother told The Herald.

"He knew to look out for her," devastated mom Elizabeth McCrorey said.
The fifth grader was struck on the corner of his family's home last Tuesday morning and died from his injuries the next day.

He was remembered as a hero as he was laid to rest Thursday.
"He saved his sister, and he ended up being the one that's where he is now," aunt Felicia Mobley said.
The youngsters were waiting to go to school when police say 57-year-old driver Michelle Johnson veered into them and then fled without calling for help.

Johnson was arrested Thursday and charged with hit and run resulting in death, according to The Herald. She was released on a $25,000 bond and has no criminal record.
La'Darious's organs were also donated to save another child, his family said.

The little boy who was a good student and loved playing football "had his whole life ahead of him," loved ones wrote in a GoFundMe page started to help the family pay for funeral costs.
"He fought a great fight, but God had a greater plan," says the fundraising page, which has collected nearly $21,000 in a week. “He gained his wings and flew away to be with the lord."
Family and friends left reeling by the tragedy are now trying to keep his legacy alive by getting the boy's favorite playground named after him.
"Coping with it day by day, so we can't really say what's going to lie ahead," Mobley told WBTV. "We just have to deal with it day by day."

STUDENT STABS PREFECT FOR PUNISHING HIM

No comments :
A 19 year old student of Gaskia College, Amukoko, Lagos, Saka Hammed, who allegedly stabbed the school's Labour prefect, Saheed Jimoh, to death on Wednesday for punishing him over being late to school, has been arrested by police.
He was allegedly arrested by policemen attached to Amukoko Division, sometime around 6.40p.m. yesterday.

According to Vanguard, when they visited Gaskia College yesterday, normal school activities had resumed as students were seen in their respective classes receiving lectures. Officials from the office of Educational Quality Assurance, Zone 14, were also seen in the school, compiling reports of the incident.
A man who identified himself as the Vice Principal said he couldn't talk to reporters.

However, a student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said:
“There are several cult factions in the school. It is an open secret that many students are involved in cult-related activities and the use of charms.
“One of the common charms used by some of the students is called 'no touch blood', which is a very poisonous charm that kills instantly when it comes in contact with blood.
“Perhaps, in the case of Saheed, his killer could have tried to test the potency of the charm.”
Another senior student of the school revealed that that Hammed only resumed for the term on Monday. He said Hammed had failed woefully and was supposed to repeat SSS 2. He said he used to be in the same class as the deceased when they were in SS2 but the deaceased passed and was promoted to SSS 3. But he stopped coming to school.
He said:
“On Monday, his father brought him to school to see the principal. Only for the incident to occur on Wednesday.”

JAMB Modifies 2016 Registration Process - You can now select two Universities

No comments :

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB has said that it has made some modifications on the 2016/2017 registration as it concerns selection of institutions by candidates. According to the Public Relations Officer of the board, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board has made provision for “preferred choice” to give candidates ample opportunity of gaining admission. In his words, “What we did initially was that you only have one choice. Now, we have made it in such a way that if you miss the University of Lagos; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaira, you will have an opportunity of going to another school. Before, all universities will be in first and second choice and that will not solve any problem. We have now decided to put a few of those schools we feel will have more spaces as more preferred. Institutions placed on the more preferred choice are those that are mostly not oversubscribed. This is because it will not make any sense if you place institutions like the ABU, UNILAG, OAU and UNN, when in actual sense they cannot even admit one third of the candidates that will choose them as most preferred.” We therefore advise candidates to ensure they visit accredited registration centres for registration where they will be properly guided on this new option and ask questions if the need clarification.

TOUCHING: Read What Obasanjo Said About His Late Wife Stella

No comments :

The former president of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo has confessed that he is still missing his late wife Stella.

Olusegun and Stella Obsanjo

The Nation reports that on Sunday, October 24, the ex-president took part in the 10th memorial service for the late Stella at the Chapel of Christ the Glorious King within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta.

I won’t say much about her today because much had been written already in my tribute about my late wife in the book, ‘My Watch’ and part of it says, she will be dearly missed by me, my family and the Abebe family,” Obasanjo said.

John Abebe, who spoke on behalf of the Abebe family, also said their sister and daughter would be greatly missed. Segun Oni, the deputy national chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the south, was among those who attended the event. He described the late Stella as a quintessential woman, who was born and raised in a family reputed for its humility and integrity.

Stella Obasanjo died a few weeks before her 60th birthday from complications after cosmetic surgery at a private health clinic in
Spain, on October 23, 2005.

READ Special Message To President Buhari From Ifa Oracle

No comments :

The Ifa oracle has sent a special message to President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos state governor, Akinwumi Ambode.

The Association of African Traditional Religion of Nigeria (AATREN) during the special prayer session stated that it has been the usual practice of the organisation during its monthly meetings to ask the oracle Ifa, what it has in stock for the rulers of the nation.
The prophet said that sacrifices need to be made for Buhari and Ambode to have a peaceful tenure. According to Chief Ifasegun Elegushi, the president of the orgnisation, “after such consultations made through one of the deities, Odus, Ifa Oturugbon, it was revealed that sacrifices should be offered to the gods for a peaceful tenure of our President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode.

“Ifa further instructs us to make sacrifices for the peace, progress and protection of the nation and for Lagos State in particular.” Elegushi also asked for more acknowledgment of his members by the administration, continuing that despite non-recognition and help from the authorities, the. traditionalists cannot but act and play their role as law abiding residents to enable that peace and repose reign supreme wherever they reside.

“We believe as traditionalists to always do our bit and ensure that peace reigns supreme in
and around where we reside. We have prayed as the oracle commanded, so that our leaders
succeed and their tenure peaceful. It is when they have peaceful governance that we also can operate with ease”, he said.
It is believed that in Yorubaland, Ifa is a connector between Eledumare (God) and mankind. Ifa is not a confusionist and neither he’s a traitor. Ifa explains the
rationale behind wealth, sorrow, success, failure, sickness, death and the likes, and ensures purity and cleanliness.

People reportedly contact Ifa for guidance and prosperity in future.

QUOTE OF THE DAY(NO BLAME GAMES)

No comments :

The only person who cannot be helped is that person who blames others.
– Carl Rogers
Most people refuse to take a blame. Instead, they blame everyone else but, they don't know that they're the ones getting hurt themselves. It's easier to blame others or have and excuse but, these blame games make us feel secured but we fail to realize our mistakes and correct them. Because of this, we neither move forward nor make positive changes in our lives. When ever we make a mistake, let us take full responsibility for that mistake and try to rectify it.

AUNT WHO SUED NEPHEW FOR HUGGING HER LOST HER CASE

No comments :
The case of the aunt who sued her young nephew over a reckless birthday hug, may have hinged on a plate of hors d’oeuvres.

Jennifer Connell, who claimed the 8-year-old boy was negligent when he jumped in her arms, knocked her down and broke her wrist, testified last week the injury made it hard for her to hold a plate of hors d’oeuvres.
At least one juror wrinkled her nose at that explanation.

“We just didn’t think the boy was negligent,” said the juror, who declined to be identified as she left the courthouse.

It only took 20 minutes Tuesday for six Superior Court jurors to decide Connell, 54, deserved zero in her civil claim against the boy.
The lawsuit Cornell filed in 2013 sought $127,000 in damages from Sean Tarala, now 12. He was the only defendant named. His father, Michael, accompanied him to court. His mother, Lisa, died last year.

Quinnipiac University law professor William Dunlap said in civil cases like this one involving children, the jury is instructed to view the child as a child, and not by a “reasonable person” standard.

“When you’re talking about young children, you’re talking about a subjective standard - not an objective standard,” he said. “The child is not required to conform his behavior to the way a reasonable adult is expected to behave.”

If the defendant had been 18 at the time of the incident, he would have been expected to act like a “reasonable adult.”

“The jury is supposed to judge the child’s behavior by how a child of similar age, intelligence and experience is expected to behave,” he said.

Judge Edward Stodolink instructed the jury to consider what a “prudent” 8-year-old boy would have done when his aunt came to his birthday party.

“Prudent,” the judge emphasized.

When the verdict was announced, Connell, a human resources manager, sat with a slight smile, as she had during much of the two-day trial.

As media from across the world clamored in the doorway of the Main Street courtroom seeking a comment, Connell begged judicial marshals to escort her to her car. They agreed.

On March 18, 2011, Connell, who is unmarried and has no children of her own, arrived at the Tarala home in Westport for the party.

The boy had gotten his first two-wheeler for his birthday and was riding the bright red bike around the home, according to testimony.

When he spotted Connell he dropped the new bicycle on the ground, exclaiming, “Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen.”

“All of a sudden he was there in the air, I had to catch him, and we tumbled onto the ground,” Connell testified of her encounter with the 50-pound boy. “I remember him shouting, ‘Auntie Jen I love you,’ and there he was flying at me.”

Although hurt, Connell said she didn’t complain to the boy at the time.

“It was his birthday party, and I didn’t want to upset him,” she told the jury.

But Connell continued that her life was turned upside down as a result of the injury. Her problems didn’t stop at hors d‘oeuvres.

AUNT SUES 12 YEARS OLD NEPHEW FOR $127,000 OVER HUG WHICH LEFT HER WITH A BROKEN WRIST

No comments :
A New York woman wants a jury to hold her 8-year-old nephew accountable for his youthful exuberance during his birthday party.

Jennifer Connell claims the boy, Sean Tarala of Westport, acted unreasonable when he leaped into her arms, causing her to fall on the ground and break her wrist four years ago. This week Connell is asking a six-member Superior Court jury to find the boy liable for his actions.
She is seeking $127,000 from the boy, who she described as always being “very loving, sensitive,” toward her. The boy is the only defendant in the case.

In court Friday, the boy, now 12 years old, appeared confused as he sat with his father, Michael Tarala, in the Main Street courtroom. The boy’s mother, Lisa Tarala, died last year.

On the witness stand before Judge Edward Stodolink, the 54-year-old Connell, a human resources manager in Manhattan, testified she loves Sean but believes he should be held accountable for her injury.

On March 18, 2011, Connell, who has no children of her own, arrived at the Tarala home at 25 Woods Grove Road to attend Sean’s birthday party.

The boy had gotten his first two-wheeler for his birthday, and was joyfully riding the bright-red bike around and around the home, according to testimony.

But when he spotted Connell, he dropped the new bicycle on the ground, exclaiming, “Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen.”

“All of a sudden he was there in the air, I had to catch him and we tumbled onto the ground,” Connell testified of her encounter with the 50-pound boy. “I remember him shouting, ‘Auntie Jen I love you,’ and there he was flying at me.”

Although hurt, Connell said, she didn’t complain to the boy at the time.

“It was his birthday party and I didn’t want to upset him,” she told the jury.

But, Connell continued, her life was turned upside down as a result of the injury.

“I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up so it has been very difficult,” she said. “And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.”

And then there is the damage the injury has done to Connell’s social life.

“I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate,” she said.

“The injuries, losses and harms to the plaintiff were caused by the negligence and carelessness of the minor defendant in that a reasonable eight years old under those circumstances would know or should have known that a forceful greeting such as the one delivered by the defendant to the plaintiff could cause the harms and losses suffered by the plaintiff,” the lawsuit claims.

6 YEARS OLD BOY FOUND DEAD IN SCHOOL BUS

No comments :

Nobody has noticed that the KG 3 student Abdul Malik Al-Awad was fast asleep when the bus arrived at the school on Monday morning. All the students disembarked when they reached their international private school in Jeddah except him.
The bus driver did not notice that the student was still on his seat when he drove the bus to the parking place where it remaimed until the end of the school hours in the afternoon.
When the driver was getting ready to take the students back to their homes he noticed that the student was still on his seat but it was too late. He was already lifeless.
Yahya Al-Awad, the student uncle, held the school responsible for the tragic death of his nephew. He said Abdul Malik was not suffering from any illness or health issues when he went to his school in the morning.
He said when the student was late coming home, his parents got worried. “His father called the school several times but there was no response,” he said.
The uncle said at a later time the school called to tell the father and the mother that their son was ill.
“When the parents arrived at the school in Rihab district, they were in for a devastating tragedy. Their son had died in his school bus,” he said.
The uncle said his brother, the student’s father, became hysteric when he was told about the death of his son and started convulsing.
Al-Awad asked why the school bus did not have a supervisor to make sure that all the students have embarked in the morning and have disembarked in the afternoon on reaching home?
He also said the school should have called the parents to enquire about the absence of their son or to ask why he did not come to the school on this day.
“The school would have discovered that the student was still in bus and his life might have been saved,” he added.
Abdullah Al-Thaqafi, director of the department of education in Jeddah, instructed an immediate investigation of the case and asked to be supplied with a quick report so as to take the appropriate decision.
Abdul Majeed Al-Ghamdi, spokesman of the department, said the bus in which the student died belonged to a private transport company which the school had contracted to transport the students..
A spokesman of Jeddah Police said the case file was handed over to the northern police district to further investigate the incident.

MAN SENTENCED TO 885 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD PONOGRAPHY

No comments :
A Seminole County judge sentenced a man to 885 years in prison for possession of a massive amount of child pornography, Attorney General Pam Bondi's Office of Statewide Prosecution announced Monday.
Shawn Ryan Thomas, 31, was sentenced to 885 years in prison on 59 counts of possession of child pornography, 15 years for each count.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Thomas communicated online with an informant regarding a disturbing plan to kidnap a child, kill the parents and sexually batter the child while filming the acts to produce child pornography.
According to a report from NBC Thomas lured a 9-year-old girl and her parents to a vacant home last June, but the adults grew suspicious and left. Thomas' public defenders told WESH at the time that the state would have had to prove that Thomas intended to carry out the act.
FDLE was able to intercept Thomas before he had the opportunity to successfully carry out the plans.
Thomas also faces 15 years of sex offender probation for one count of possession of child pornography.
