Breaking! Lagos State University, LASU, Gets A New VC
Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has approved the appointment of Professor Fidelis O. Njokanma as the acting Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).Prof. Njokanma was until his appointment the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), a position he held since May 2014.
The appointment came after a meeting of the Governing Council of the university held on Thursday evening.According to information obtained from LASU’s Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPPR), Njokanma will pilot the affairs of the institution “pending the appointment of a substantive Vice Chancellor.”
The Governor of Lagos State His Excellency Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has appointed an acting Vice Chancellor Professor. Fidelis Olisamedua Njokanma, who was before now the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University (Administration) The appointment is to be effected into action from 1st of November 2015 as recommended by the University Governing Council pending the period that a new Vice Chancellor will be elected
Professor Njokanma has worked with several teaching hospitals in the past
The Medical Scholar who is a pediatrician has held several administrative posts in Lagos State University before now
He was once the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Science at the Lagos State University School of Medicine (LASUCOM), 2012 - 2014, Deputy Provost, College of Medicine 2008 - 2012. Also the Acting Head, Department of Paediatrics and Child Health
And he is currently the Acting Vice Chancellor of our great University
